Welcome to the World of Adulting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So, you’re 18 years old now and officially a “Young Adult.” What that means is different for everyone, and you are uniquely…well…you<\/em><\/strong>. That doesn’t mean we don’t all have some things in common, though, including figuring out our finances and how we want to bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Velocity Community Credit Union is committed to helping our younger members get a great start. You’ve probably had our CU Rising (FKA Claim Your Youth) account and may have even been a Kirby Club member, so you know we have a lot to offer and see the value in our all our members, not just the ones with loans and big balances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are our future, and we are excited to welcome you to yours!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to do now?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There isn’t anything you have to do. We will convert your account from CU Rising to a Student account automatically. Nothing has<\/em><\/strong> to change, but we can make it better!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are now eligible for Zelle<\/a>\u00ae, Savvy Money, Express Deposit<\/a>, first-time auto buyer financing, Courtesy Pay, and more! To quote Spiderman, though, “with great power comes great responsibility.” If you have any questions about these services, their limits, or how they can affect you, please give us a call or stop by a branch with your questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few suggestion to get you started:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

First of all, if you’ve moved out of your parent’s house or are going away to school, you may want to change the contact information on your accounts to your own. If nothing else, you will probably want to update the email address from your parent’s. To do so, you can sign in to online banking<\/a> and use the secure email feature. Otherwise, you can snail-mail<\/a> a written and signed request or stop by any branch office<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secondly, if you haven’t done so already, open a Student Checking with Velocity Community Credit Union! The account is free until you turn 25 years old, although its super easy to qualify for free checking<\/a> even after you turn 25. Plus, you get a free debit card that pays 10 cents per transaction once you meet the qualifications. Click here for more information.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you started your credit journey with a Secured VISA\u00ae credit card, you may consider applying for an unsecured card<\/a> and get your security deposit back! To apply without a co-signer, you will need a job with your own income. Of course, you can still apply with a co-signer, as well. Speak with one of our knowledgeable loan officers for answers to your questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And don’t forget – if you’ve been happy at Velocity Community, tell your friends!<\/a> You can earn cash, and so can they, just for signing up for qualifying accounts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
