Youth Month – April 2026

This year’s Youth Month theme is the “Sunny Side of Savings,” which is all about helping young members discover how fun saving can be. All month long, kids and teens will explore smart money habits, learn how saving adds up over time, and see how their goals can become reality. We will have engaging activities, special promotions, and easy to understand learning opportunities to help them shine bright with their finances.

Youth Month Promotion & Event Schedule

April 1-30Every deposit you help your child make into a Velocity Community Youth Account… Savings, Checking, or Share Certificate… earns an automatic entry in our $100 Money Tree Drawing at month-end.1
April 1-30Help your teen open a Teen Checking Account with Debit Card and we’ll make a $25 opening deposit to that new Checking Account!2
April 1-30 Open a Special 6% APY Youth 12-Month Share Certificate3 for up to $1,000 for each of your children. They’ll learn how compounding interest can make their savings grow.
April 1-30Bring your children to your Velocity Community Branch to enter our Guess The Sand Dollars contest to try to win $25!4
April 1-30Show off your creativity in our Youth Month Coloring Contest. One lucky winner will receive $25, and second and third place will each receive 25 Kirby Bucks.5

Kirby’s Next Adventure

After many wonderful years helping our young members learn about saving, Kirby Kangaroo is hopping back home to Australia. Kirby has loved being part of our credit union family and cheering on so many smart savers along the way.

As Kirby heads off on his next adventure, we are getting ready to introduce a brand new friend who will continue the fun and help kids learn about saving, spending wisely, and reaching their goals.

Stay tuned after Youth Month to meet our new friend. We cannot wait to introduce you!

1) Must be 17 or younger to enter. Entries occur automatically 4/1/2026-4/30/2026 with deposits to any youth savings, share certificate, or checking account. Other entries can be made by providing your name and contact information to [email protected]. Limit of 10 entries per member. Need not be present to win. Odds of winning based on number of entries. Prize(s): One $100 prize to be deposited to winner’s VCCU account. Member responsible for any applicable taxes. Drawing will be on 5/1/2026 at Velocity Community.
2)To receive $25 Teen Checking bonus, the member cannot have ever held the applicable account type at VCCU at any time previously.
3) APY=Annual Percentage Yield. Only members 17 and under are eligible for this special certificate. One certificate per Youth Member. Youth Certificate Special requires a minimum deposit of $250, maximum amount of $1000. New certificate money only. Only available from 4/1/2026 – 4/30/2026.
4) Must be 17 years of age or younger to participate. In the event that more than one person guesses the exact amount, the winner will be determined at random. Winner will be announced 5/1/2026

5) Open to youth members age 12 and under. Limit one entry per youth member. Entries must be submitted between April 1, 2026 and April 30, 2026. One first place winner will receive $25. Second and third place winners will each receive 25 Kirby Bucks. Winners will be announced on May 8, 2026.
